Activities such as exploring Mckinney Texas Historic Downtown which has a cute small-town vibes with shops, cafes, restaurants, and historical buildings.  Alternatively, if you want to be closer to nature, we have Towne Lake.

FREQUENT ASK QUESTION

Have you ever caught a whiff of a foul odor one day from a mattress or from a carpet?

Our Mattresses and carpet go through a lot.  We all sweat and shed dead skin cells in our sleep or as we traverse from one room to another, it is inevitable that build up will occurred over time, and depending on our diet, such as consumption of garlic or onion where it boosts our metabolism, body heat and sweat, and subsequently causing bacteria on your skin to mingle with sweat that secrete through your apocrine glands, leading to a buildup of unpleasant order and eventually landing on your mattress and on your carpet.

However, before calling your trusted house cleaner, visit your kitchen and pull out your baking soda, noted, baking soda can be considered an organic product, and it can neutralize acidic and alkaline substances.

  1. FOR GENERAL CLEANING

Mix baking soda with water to create a paste. This can be used to scrub surfaces like countertops and stovetops, removing grime without scratching. The abrasive texture of baking soda makes it excellent for tackling tough stains.

  1. CARPET / MATTRESS DEODORIZER

Sprinkle baking soda on your mattress(es) or on your carpets, let it sit for about an hour or for as long as it is convenient for you, then vacuum it up.  This will help to absorb odors and freshen up the area.

  1. SINK CLEANER AND SMELL REMOVAL

For daily ritual, sprinkle baking soda into a wet sink, then scrub and rinse. If you choose to, add your cleaning soap into the mixture.  If you want your sink to smell nice, slice a lemon in half and let the grinder do its job.

  1. BATHROOM SCRUB

In similar fashion, apply baking soda to toilet, wet tiles, tubs, and sinks, dd a bit of castile soap or your regular cleaner, scrub the area, and rinse off. This method effectively cleans without harsh chemicals

  1. ODOR NEUTRALIZER

Place an open box of baking soda in your refrigerator, freezer, or any other space that needs deodorizing.  It naturally absorbs unwanted smells.

  1. LAUNDRY

Simply sprinkle baking soda onto a wet stain, leave it overnight and it is highly likely that the stain will likely be gone, and so will the odors.  Afterward, just continue to wash your cloth with your detergent.

1. TIPS AND TRICKS: ORGANIC ODORS REMOVALClose

  1. Declutter Your Floors & Counters

The most basic tip: have the surfaces you want to be cleaned clutter-free.

This will ensure two things. First, there will be no confusion regarding where items go; you’ll put away the important ones. Second, your house will be cleaned faster – which saves you money since Mrs Clean is priced based on the time your cleaner takes.

While a house cleaner may help tidy up toys, shoes, and stray items in general, their main job is to clean, not to organize personal items. If all surfaces are ready to clean, they’ll do a better job, and in less time.

  1. Deal with Your Dirty Dishes

What’s included in a house cleaning service differs from company to company. But  a general rule, most house cleaners don’t wash dishes or deal with food messes. At the most, they load the dishwasher.

Washing and putting away your dirty dishes allows your house cleaner to access areas they do clean such as your sink and kitchen countertops. Again, since we are priced based on time, the more time we figure out where your dishes should be located, they less time we have to clean.

  1. Put Away Your Valuables & Fragile Items

THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT TIPS for how to prepare for a home cleaning service. House cleaners are careful from the moment they set foot in your house. However, accidents happen. If there’s any item of value that could easily get broken, please put it somewhere safe.

Mrs Clean go through rigorous background and criminal check processes for every cleaner, however, it’s always best to ensure item such as jewelry, coin, name brand watches, etc are secure before inviting anyone into your home.

  1. Secure Your Pets

Mrs Clean is absolutely a pet-friendly house cleaning service, but it’s still important for everyone’s safety to make sure your furry friend is secure.

  1. Leave Special Note to Your Cleaner

Always communicate with your house cleaner, especially if you have specific requests during the cleaning session.
If you want your cleaner to pay special attention to an area of your house or tell them there’s a problem with a faucet, etc. Communicate with our receptionist and we will inform our cleaners.

3. Get the Most of Your Professional Cleaning By Preparing Your HomeClose
Hard water contains high levels of dissolved minerals, mainly calcium and magnesium, which are naturally found in the Earth’s crust. Water becomes hard when it picks up these minerals as it flows through rocks, soil, wells, or other waterways.
Toilet stains can be caused by a variety of factors, including minerals from hard water, bacterial growth, or mold spores. Understanding these causes is key to effectively removing the stains and preventing them from recurring.
Causes of stain in your toilet

  1. Hard water stains are caused by minerals like calcium and magnesium in the water supply. These minerals deposit over time and form a “chalky white or gray residue” that can harden and become difficult to remove. They often appear just under the water line and around the upper rim of the bowl.

  1. “Rust-colored or reddish-brown stains” typically occur due to high iron content in the water. When iron particles are exposed to air, they form a compound known as iron oxide and leave a reddish-brown residue in the toilet bowl. These stains are particularly common in areas with well water or aged plumbing systems.

  1. “Black stains” in the toilet bowl are often the result of mold or mildew growth, which thrives in moist environments. Another common cause is manganese, a mineral that leaves a dark residue when water with high manganese content sits in the bowl for a period. These stains might look alarming, but with the right approach, they can be effectively removed.

  1. Limescale Deposits is similar to hard water stains, limescale is a hard, crusty deposit that forms from calcium carbonate in water. It typically accumulates in areas with persistent water contact and can become quite thick over time. Limescale is notably difficult to clean because it adheres strongly to the surface.

Solution to remove stain in your toilet

  1. Regular Use of Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide is a powerful oxidizing agent that can break down and bleach organic stains, making it excellent for combating mold and mildew. Simply pour a cup of hydrogen peroxide into the toilet bowl and let it sit for about 30 minutes. Afterward, scrub the bowl with a toilet brush and flush. This method not only cleans but also disinfects.

  1. White Vinegar and Baking Soda

For mineral deposits and bacteria-induced stains, a combination of vinegar and baking soda can be highly effective. Start by pouring a cup of vinegar into the toilet bowl and sprinkling baking soda over it. Let the mixture fizz for 10 to 15 minutes before scrubbing with a toilet brush. The natural acidic action of vinegar coupled with the abrasive nature of baking soda acts as a natural stain remover without harsh chemicals.

  1. Borax Paste

Borax has strong cleaning properties that can tackle tough toilet stains. Make a paste by mixing the borax powder with water and applying it directly to the stains. Allow it to sit for 15 to 20 minutes, then scrub in a circular motion with a toilet brush or pumice stone for extra stubborn stains. Flush the toilet to rinse away the residue.

  1. Lemon Juice and Salt

Lemon juice is another natural acid that can help remove black stains, especially those caused by mildew. The citric acid in lemon juice breaks down the stain, while salt acts as a gentle abrasive. Apply a mixture of lemon juice and salt to the stain, let it sit for several minutes, then scrub and flush. This not only cleans but also leaves a fresh, clean scent.

  1. Pumice Stone for Hard Mineral Deposits

For hard mineral deposits, a pumice stone can be an effective tool. Wet the pumice stone and gently rub it on the stain. The abrasive surface of the pumice will grind away the mineral buildup without damaging the porcelain, as long as it is used wet and with gentle pressure.

Wondering if you really need a deep cleaning for your home?

Before you decide, you’ll want to know the difference between a regular cleaning and a deep cleaning service. They cover different things within your home, however, regardless of the service, you can benefit from both types of cleaning.

Regular Cleaning Basics

Typical regular cleaning from a cleaning service usually happens on a weekly or on a bi-weekly basis. The goal is to keep up with basic cleaning tasks in an already somewhat maintained home.

Typical tasks that happen during a regular cleaning involve:

  • Tidying up of your spaces which include kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms, living room and hallway, please visit our “Get The Most of Your Professional Cleaning By Preparing Your Home”.
  • Cleaning floors which could either be sweeping and mopping floor or vacuuming and mopping floor.
  • Wiping and scrubbing surfaces in kitchens and bathrooms.
  • Taking out the trash
  • General dusting

In general, a regular cleaning usually occurs every week or every two weeks in a somewhat well-maintained home.

Deep Cleaning Basics

Deep cleaning is essentially regular cleaning “plus”. It goes further to get rid of dirt in your blinds and baseboard, grime on your stove, soap scum in bathtub, and other gunk around your home. It’s a more thorough service than standard cleaning.

Deep cleaning typically takes longer than a general cleaning service, especially if you schedule a deep cleaning for your entire home.  All-in-all, deep cleaning is highly recommended before you schedule for a regular cleaning or recurrence cleaning.

Kitchen

Your regular weekly cleaning likely includes tidying up your countertops, wiping down all visible surfaces, and cleaning the floor.

But for a deep cleaning, the following things might be included:

  • Clean ceiling fans, light fixtures and remove any dust bunnies
  • Clean baseboards and light switch plates
  • Clean fingerprints from doors and remove any dust build up

General Spaces such as living room, bedrooms

Your cleaner also tidies up general spaces during a normal cleaning. This includes putting things where they belong, cleaning floors, and wiping down surfaces.

But for deep cleaning services, the following things might be included:

  • Clean wall trims, baseboards, light switch plats and fans
  • Clean fingerprints from doors and any dust build up
  • Clean Windowsills and ledges
  • Clean ceiling fans, light fixtures and remove any dust bunnies

When to Get a Deep Cleaning

You don’t always need a deep cleaning. It’s typically an occasional service you get for a specific purpose such as before 1.) holidays, 2.) when you have party and want your house to be spotless before guests arrive, 3.) An initial clean before your recurrence / regular cleaning service, or 4.) Quarterly cleaning to prevent dust buildup on trims, baseboards, windowsills, and ceiling fans.

4. Regular Cleaning Service / Deep Cleaning Service Cleaning ListClose
When you installed your glass shower door, you probably loved the sleek clean look of your bathroom. However, over the passing weeks and months, you might start to notice a filmy residue forming on your once new shower door. This is the result of minerals clinging to the door after water droplets after the water evaporate.

It is common for water in the U.S to contain minerals such as calcium, magnesium and lime.  Naturally, rainwater is considered to be soft, but by the time it passes through the ground, into waterways and out of our showerhead, it has picked up plenty of minerals and at this point, water is considered to be “Hard”, when water evaporates and high mineral content dries/bond on glass surfaces, these becomes water stain.

Solution:

  1. Spray on a commercial lime- or calcium-removing spray specifically designed to remove hard water spots.
  2. For stubborn water stain, spray Lemon Juice on shower door: Lemon juice can remove calcium and magnesium because it contains “citric acid”, which is a chelating agent that binds to positively charged ions, or cations. This process, called chelation, dissolves mineral deposits, like limescale, that are left behind by hard water.
  3. Similarly, for stubborn water stain, spray Vinegar on Shower door: Vinegar, or acetic acid, dissolves calcium carbonate through a chemical reaction:

The vinegar’s acid breaks apart the calcium carbonate’s solid crystals into calcium and carbonate.
The calcium ions dissolve in the vinegar, while the carbonate creates carbon dioxide, which appears as bubbles.
The reaction also produces calcium acetate, a salt that dissolves easily in water
