This indicator was positioned at the Turret Trainers Station within a gun turret of a battleship or a cruiser, signaling to the Turret Trainer if the 'laying', or aim, of the guns needed to be trained (turned) left or right, and if the barrels should be depressed or elevated. which would be displayed on the ALT gauge

It's condition gives clues of its age

likely indicating manufacture date of 1957 for the US Air Force
