《鳳凰於飛》裏的音樂當屬“新音樂”範疇，裡面的曲目都經由武亦文改編，令《漁家女》、《夜上海》或《天涯歌女》等，都是婦孺皆知、耳熟能詳的老調子添上了新的生命力。由於融入了編曲者的音樂創意，當中的《五月的風》，音樂流暢自然，恰到好處的和聲，好似明月下、清風中深情款款的傾訴，真的如製作人所說的那樣“越聽越覺得懶懶的”。而改編的《夜上海》，老調新唱，再加上一段精彩的鋼琴前奏，足以顯示編曲者紮實的音樂功底。至於其他的曲子，無論是從編曲或是演奏上，都經得其我們細細的品嚼。
